 Winter is well and truly upon us. It’s time to explore the indoor activities and hobbies. Have you a project you have left languishing in the corner that needs finishing or are you ready to try something new?  Call in and see us, we have lots of fabrics and patterns so you can occupy “your happy place” for a few hours.
We also have a growing selection of Christmas fabrics and ideas for those of you who want to get started.

WINTER CLASSES
 
Beginner patchwork and quilting
Cut! Press! Sew!  Come along on a Saturday morning and learn how to cut your fabric using a rotary cutter and mat, press your fabric accurately and sew using a ¼” seam.  We will use all these skills on a placemat/mug rug, then quilt and bind it.  In this one project you will learn the foundational skills of patchworking and quilting.
 
This will take place over two Saturdays:  2^nd and 9^th August and 16^th and 23^rd August.
  Time: 10-12pm.   Cost: $50.00.  Please ring in and book your place. $20.00 deposit required.  We will go ahead with each class once we have 4 people. Feel free to bring your own machine and fabrics from your stash.
 
Mondays Hipstitch  3:45 – 5:30pm
Beginner sewing classes for teenage people keen to sew. We work term by term creating clothes, bags, pouches and whatever takes the group decides   This term we are creating a  fabric quilt either as a baby’s cot quilt or a throw to snuggle under during the winter.  Classes are $100 for an 8 week term, with kits extra. Machines supplied. Fabric available at the shop.     First class for term 3 is Monday 4 August 2025. Please ring in and reserve your spot by paying a deposit or in full. 
 
Clothes sewing modules
We are sewing skirts, shorts, dresses and pants.  Each item will take 3 weeks.  Total cost is $60 for the lesson.  Patterns and fabrics are available at the shop.  These classes will equip you with the basic sewing techniques to get you started with your dressmaking.  All items will be made with woven fabric.
Times:  Wednesday 10-12 or 5:30-7:30
Dress: 6th, 13^th and 20^th August
Skirt: 27^th August, 3^rd and 10^th September
Pants: 17^th, 24^th September and 1^st October.
